by Katie Korotzer A small but mighty group of three OGC members (thank you: Barb Weikert, Jane Wiser, Katie Korotzer!) gathered for a morning of checking on the Downtown Orinda Pots on Thursday, July 15. Enjoying a cool, sunny morning and great conversation, we strolled along the downtown Orinda sidewalks, stopping at each group of pots to determine whether any needed our attention. The new plants are thriving and the City of Orinda has been doing a wonderful job of keeping the pots watered twice a week. The nasturtiums have become quite happy and perhaps a bit too vigorous in a few cases; nothing that these three OGC members couldn’t handle! A bit of trimming there and a bit of thinning here, and the perky grasses in the middle were able to see the sun at last. One of the best things about the morning was hearing all the enthusiastic compliments expressed by people passing by as we did our work. It is apparent that the Downtown Orinda Pots are seen and appreciated by the public. The Orinda Juniors and Montelindo clubs will take on the care of the pots for August and September; OGC will have our next turn in October. Look for the date sometime in October and join the fun.
