Submitted by Jane Wiser Published November 13th, 2019 Orinda Garden Club hard at work now for future beauty By Sora O'Doherty (link to article) The Beautification Committee Chairs, Lisa Hallahan, Gina Barretta and Sue Andersen-Berger led an unprecedented campaign to brighten up the two areas that our Club maintains: the triangle and the off-ramp. Laden with thousands of bulbs, many of our members participated in the planting efforts on Nov. 8th and 16th. Sue, a Master Gardener, composed the mixture of elements, including several varieties of white daffodils with some yellow and blues tossed in for contrast. This combination will bloom at longer intervals and also ensure greater visibility for drivers and pedestrians. We had the benefit of Sue's gardeners who helped prepare the ground for easier planting and also removed several older overgrown shrubs and replaced them with appropriate native blooming plants. Many thanks to members who participated: Sue Andersen-Berger, Gina Barretta, Louise Diracles, Hilary Fabian, Sugar Filice, Ruth Fortune, Shelley Gilligan, Lisa Hallahan, Lisa Jorgens, Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, Katie Rittmann, Nita Roethe, Laura Sawczuk, Mary Ellen Schneider, Margene Stahle, Linda Thompson, Bobbie Wilson, Jane Wiser and Jane Zuercher. Now we just need to pray for rain to bring the bulbs to life and ask for patience as we wait for a spectacular spring showing! Thanks to publicity chair, Vanessa Crews for submitting to the Lamorinda Weekly.
