At the October 24, 2019 meeting the members will be voting on two motions concerning OGC's involvement in the Miner Road Bridge Beautification Project.

1. What is being proposed?
The project is the application of a stone façade on the street sides of the completed concrete bridge on Miner Road. The proposed facade materials match the outer sides of the bridge and blend with other bridges in the area. This is known as the “Miner Road Bridge Beautification Project”
2. How will the funding work?
For the past year, concerned OGC members have been soliciting private contributions to the Bridge Beautification Project, currently there are $30,000 of committed earmarked funds. The first motion is requesting that OGC acts as the Sponsor for the project and OGC promises to use those funds towards the beautification project. The second motion would allow a contribution of no more than $5,000 of existing OGC beautification funds, only if necessary, to complete the project.
3. What is the significance to the OGC?
Orinda Garden Club would be identified as the Sponsor funds for the Miner Road Bridge Beautification Project. The funds would be donated in Orinda Garden Club’s name.
4. Is this compliant with our By-Laws?
I have confirmed that the proposed involvement by OGC in the Miner Road Bridge Beautification Project is in compliance with our purpose as stated in Article II, Section 2 of the OGC By-Laws.
5. How it will be decided?
At the October 24 General Meeting the two motions below will be presented and the project will be described. We will then hear from both sides then open it up for discussion. The matter will then be decided by a simple majority of voting members present at the meeting by written ballot.
MOTION ONE: That upon the recommendation of the Board, with at least $30,000 to be donated by concerned members of the Orinda Garden Club for the Miner Road Bridge Beautification Project, the membership approves the Orinda Garden Club’s sponsorship of the Project and the expenditure of those funds for the purpose of beautifying the Miner Road Bridge. MOTION TWO: That upon the recommendation of the Board, if the membership approves the Orinda Garden Club’s sponsorship of the Miner Road Bridge Beautification Project and if funds are still needed to complete the project, the membership also approves the expenditure of funds, not to exceed $5000, to enable the completion of the Project. 6. Can I find out more about the project?
