Margie Murphy and Judy Shallat hosted the annual Associates and Sustainers Coffee at Margie’s home on October 28. Over forty women participated in a reunion of the Orinda Garden Club’s old guard. We all know that going associate or becoming a sustaining member doesn’t mean that we are inactive, indifferent or disinterested in Our Club. Many of us have chosen to commit to other endeavors but still want to see OGC do well and keep in touch with long time friends. That’s why we plan this event. It allows us to catch up with fellow members and keep the spirit of The Club in our hearts. The byproduct of this event is a feeling of continued belonging. This esprit de corps ensures a preservation of enthusiasm, devotion and strong regard for the honor of the group. AND that translates to continued participation and a desire to give back to the Club. Our president, Laurie Goetzl, graced us with her presence . What better way of saying to the “retired” members of OGC ”You are still valued.”
